Fourth Year Studio
When comparing the site to its surrounding context, it is not just its own separate space. The site plan provides an extension of The River Walk to the Black Box, instead of abruptly stopping at the intersection of Tennessee Street and West Butler Avenue. It also provides a relaxing space for people to enjoy the outdoors when walking around the area and providing outdoor seating for the local shops and restaurants like the Blue Monkey, Bluff City Coffee, Earnestineand Hazel;s, and The Cheesecake Corner just to name a few, which are only 1 to 2 blocks away. This outdoor space will "connect" these local shops as well as new developed ones with the residents that live on the Bluff and other apartments surrounding the area. Not only does this space accommodate for public use, but the way it is laid out can be allowed for viewing movies or slideshows on the wall provided. Finally, if the outdoor space on the corner of Tennessee Street and West Butler Avenue is not sufficient enough for a specific play or show, the actors can use this green space as another viewing area.
