Fourth Year Studio

Located in New York City, our site was small, around 40 feet by 90 feet. The assignment called for a 15-20 story timber high-rise. Though we did not have a specific program, I wanted to keep it versatile for whatever the client wanted; Office space, residential, etc. This called for an open floor plan. To maximize this space with a wooden structure,  a diagrid was designed using glulam, moving all structural elements to the perimeter. Voids in between floors also gave opportunity for outdoor or green space, providing a community space within the building.
